This is a handmade Georgian silver ice tong bangle which would have been used to serve ice from an ice bucket during the Georgian period. It is monogrammed with a letter "W" or "M" we can't decide which it is, but both effective whichever way you turn the bangle.
The original silver hallmarks for London 1802 have been retained and are visible on the inside edge of the bangle. (ref SP2978).
This bangle began life in London 1802 as a pair of long ice bucket tongs, this bangle has been handcrafted using the complete set of tongs, I have made this so that it is interlocking, where the bowls overlock the bangle into a rigid position.
A lovely Birthday, Christmas, Christening, Wedding, Confirmation or any celebratory present, or a “to me from me” treat!, quite unique and snazzy, with oodles of history and a major talking point!
The diameter of this bangle is 6.5cm, slip the hand through the bangle but if need be, the bangle will unlock to allow the hand to pass through, simply slide one of the tong bowls over and it will unlock, once the bangle is on your wrist just slide the bowl back into the locked position.
Handcrafted using only hand tools on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales :-)
The bangle is presented in a two-tone wood case with the assay office details printed inside the case lid.
This item will be well packaged for posting.
Ideal for both men and women.
